Fab fours

Friday 31st March - Today we had some of our friends from Kindy come and spend some time with us in Room 1. We had a great time painting, making glitter art, playing hopscotch, doing chalk art, and playing some team games outside. We are looking forward to our friends coming back next Friday!

All about Asia

Thursday 30th March - Konnichiwa! Today Room 1 and Room 2 learnt about kimono's.

First we learnt about what a kimono is and where they come from. A kimono is a type of dress from Japan. They are mainly one colour with some patterns on them.

Miss Botting and Miss Johnston got all of us into groups to work on our own kimono designs.

Here is one group working very hard on their kimono designs.

After we had finished our designs, we made a kimono out of newspaper and coloured paper.

Ethan's lovely kimono design! Ka pai Ethan.

Lots of concentration going on for the designers.

The end result - We were very proud of our kimonos. We all worked together responsibly to create them. You can see them up on the walls in Room 1 and Room 2 next week.

Here is Miss Botting going through each of the designs.

Room 1's Teddy Bear Picnic

Friday 24th March - "If you go down to the KINDY today, you're sure of a big surprise. If you go down to the KINDY today, you'd better go in disguise".. and that is just what Room 1 did.

We created some amazing bear headbands, we made some yummy honey sandwiches, we even made some wobbly jelly! We crept down to the Kindergarten and surprised our Kindy friends. They welcomed us with a lovely song and then we ate our picnic together outside on their picnic tables and picnic mat. After we had finished our kai (food), we played on the playground.

Thank you to Balclutha Kindergarten staff and students for having us, we loved visiting you and we hope we can come back again soon.

Here are some photos from our visit.
